Textbooks

The academic faculty at SCC chooses textbooks. For information about the textbooks currently in use, please contact your department coordinator / chair.  Policy 3.03.05 clarifies how to dispose of / donate copies of textbooks no longer in use.

Honors Program

The Honors Program at Southwestern Community College is designed to pair faculty and students to develop term long projects to award eligible students with Honors Credit.  It is a great way to stay connected with current research and mentor students.

More information can be found at the Honors Program Website

Grading Scales

The college asks instructors to place their grading scales within their syllabus as they vary among college divisions. Generally either a 10-point or 7-point scale is used. Check with your academic dean for further clarification.

Syllabus and Course Outline

Course outlines and current syllabuses are maintained in the Division office. The general course outline includes course number/title, catalog description including prerequisites/corequisites, textbook information, course objectives, typical methods of instruction and student assessment. The outline provides the college’s basic assumptions about each course and assures a base level of consistency among course sections. Instructors are expected to provide much more detail on their individual course syllabuses.
