Small Business Center announces spring seminars

SYLVA - This spring, the Small Business Center at Southwestern Community College has a schedule full of free seminars and opportunities for small business owners in and around Jackson, Swain, Macon counties and the Qualla Boundary.

 “All of our events are customized to the needs of the business owners we serve throughout our region,” said Tiffany Henry, the director of SCC’s Small Business Center. “As you can see our upcoming programs, we pull out all the stops each and every time making sure our business community has access to the traning and information they need to be successful. If you are considering starting a business or if you’ve been in business for years, we’ve got something to help with each stage of your business.”

The following list highlights some of the upcoming events Henry and her team are offering over the coming weeks:

  • Mind Spark Live: Navigating the Small Business Pipeline; from 9-10 a.m. on April 3 as a Live Online Training Event
  • Marketing 101; from 1-5 p.m. on April 3 at the Franklin Chamber of Commerce
  • BREAKTHROUGH Business Marketing Summit; from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on April 4 at the Southwestern Community College Jackson Campus
  • How to Write a Business Plan; from 9 a.m.-noon on April 5 at the Ginger Lynn Welch Building (Cherokee)
  • Digital Marketing Summit; from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on April 8 at the Franklin Chamber of Commerce
  • Women’s Power Breakfast- Life/Work Balance for Business Owners; from 8:30-9:45 a.m. on April 10 t the Franklin Chamber of Commerce
  • How to Start a Business; from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on April 18 at the Franklin Chamber of Commerce
  • Grow Your Small Business with Excellent Customer Service; from 8:30-10 a.m. on April 24 at the Highlands Civic Center
  • Making An Offer They Can’t Refuse; from 8:30-10 a.m. on April 24 at the SCC Swain Center
  • Financing Your Business; from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on April 25 at the Franklin Chamber of Commerce
  • Women’s Power Breakfast – Partnerships & Collaboration to Grow Our Business; from 8:30-9:45 a.m. on May 1 at the Southwestern Commission

In addition to these seminars, Henry offers counseling and assistance in all aspects of entrepreneurship such as marketing, business plans and production controls.

Her efforts for small businesses in western North Carolina have not gone unnoticed. She has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Innovation award in 2015 and 2017 for her continued work to support growth in the agriculture industry. Most recently, she received the State Small Business Center Director award in December.
