Student of the Week: Charlotte Saunooke

2014-11-17

Photo of Charlotte SaunookeCongratulations to Charlotte Saunooke, a student in SCC's Medical Assisting program, for being named Student of the Week by our Student Recognition Retention Action Team.

Charlotte, who aims to graduate in May, took a moment to answer a couple of questions:

Q) What motivates you to continue and excel at SCC in spite of circumstances you may face?
A) To return to higher education and obtain my degree was a personal goal that I established for myself. I dedicated myself to raising my two boys and kept promising myself that once they were raised I was going back to school.

Q) What advice would you give to future students who might face similar situations?
A) Everyone has a story and life can throw some curves at you from time to time. But, be patient, because patience and perseverance overcome the greatest difficulties. These times will pass. For those who are wanting to return to school or already enrolled, never lose sight of your goal or dream. There will be long days and nights of studying or those anxiety driven mornings of the big exam, but hang in there. You can do it!! I would like to add that the staff and faculty at Southwestern Community college have been so helpful and understanding. They are here to help you achieve and reach your goal.
