Description: 

Physical, cognitive, and mental health disabilities affect thousands of people from all areas of life. In this course, you will be introduced to the laws that help ensure that students with disabilities will be provided equal access to an education at the post-secondary level. You’ll also learn about how reasonable accommodations are determined, and how educators can help in implementing those accommodations.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Identify the federal laws that affect students' rights in regards to equal educational access
  • Identify factors which may affect students’ eligibility for support through the disability services office
  • Identify services offered through the disability services office
  • Identify the process for assisting students
