In this session, we will discuss the importance of reflection in learning and how you can provide students with opportunities for reflection in your courses using blogs and journals. We will compare blogs and journals and determine when it is appropriate to use each based on participants' instructional challenges or ideas, and participants will also have some hands-on time with both tools.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify benefits of using blogs or journals in a class to encourage student reflection
  • Compare the blog and journal tools in Blackboard
  • Describe ways journals or blogs can be used in your own course(s)
