Conrad Burrell called the special meeting of the Board of Trustees
to order at 4:05 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2003, in the Bradford
Hall Conference Room.
The
purpose of the meeting was to select a building architect for
the new Macon Campus. George Stanley provided an overview of the
project. In response to the college's advertisement, 27 firms
submitted proposals. The firms were then ranked and the six highest
ranking firms were invited to make a presentation to the Board
of Trustees.
Presentations
were made by Masters Gentry Architects, PA; Rogers/Chenevert,
Architects; Camille-Alberice Architects, PA; Pearce, Brinkley,
Cease & Lee, PA; Bowers, Ellis & Watson Architects, PA,
and Verdi Architecture.
Following
discussion, it was general consensus that the three highest ranking
firms were Bowers, Ellis & Watson Architects, PA; Pearce,
Brinkley, Cease & Lee, PA; and Rogers/Chenevert, Architects.
Chairman
Burrell called for a vote by show of hands. By a majority vote,
the firm of Bowers, Ellis & Watson Architects, PA was selected
as building architect for the new Macon Campus project.
Mr.
Penland made a motion to accept Pearce, Brinkley, Cease &
Lee, PA as second choice for the Macon Campus building architect
and Rogers/Chenevert, Architects as third choice. Mr. Holt seconded
the motion which carried.
Dr.
Groves distributed a copy of the executed Settlement Agreement
and Release with APAC-Tennesee regarding the Macon Driver Training
Range.
Dr.
Neslen made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Sutton seconded the motion
which carried.
The
meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
