High School Students

Southwestern Community College supports four programs for middle and high school students in our service area. These FREE programs serve a wide range of students. 

• Career & College Promise and Early College High School offer qualified students the opportunity to earn college credit tuition free while in high school. 
• New Century Scholars program provides support, encouragement and incentive to selected students from Jackson, Macon and Swain counties beginning in the 7th grade.
• Upward Bound is a college preparatory program for eligible high school students funded by the United States Department of Education as a TRIO program.
• Project SHIFT seeks to advance education and science by exposing high school students to health science programs.
