Our student of the week is Kristin Farmer! She is majoring in Pre-Respiratory Therapy.
We asked Kristin a few questions about herself and what inspires her:
Who is one of your role models? How has that person helped with your educational journey?
I have an ample amount of role models in my life, but the one that has always pushed me to achieve my goals would be my mom. She has been an inspiration throughout my life and she has always been my number one fan, constantly cheering me on.
What motivates you to excel at SCC in spite of difficult circumstances you may face?
My twin boys passed away in a NICU last year, and that has been my greatest motivation. They are the reason I’m majoring in Pre-Respiratory Therapy. I live each day trying to make them proud. Whenever times get tough, I think about them and push through any challenge I face.
What advice would you give to other students who face tough challenges?
You’ve already taken the steps to get this far, so don’t look back. The things in front of you might be hard to grasp, but it will all be worth it in the end when you are walking across the stage with your diploma in hand. In the end, you're making yourself and and all of your loved ones so very proud.
We are so proud to have you as a student, Kristin. We wish you great success here at SCC.
