As part of the Welcome Back to Campus for fall semester Thursday, Aug. 9, Southwestern Community College recognized employees and their contributions to state service. SCC President Don Tomas presented service pins and awards to those recognized.
Since Southwestern Community College opened its doors on December 1, 1964, six men have served as president. Recently, four of the six presidents and several trustee members got together to talk about the college and its history.

Sylva attorney W. Paul Holt, Jr. was recently reappointed to Southwestern Community College’s Board of Trustees by the Jackson County Board of Education.
Conrad Burrell, retired Jackson County Register of Deeds, was recently reappointed to Southwestern Community College’s Board of Trustees by Governor Beverly Perdue.
Ms. Justyne L. Reese has received the fall 2012 Western Carolina University Chancellor’s Achievement Award for the outstanding Southwestern Community College student.
