Surgical Technology

A QUICK INTRO

If you naturally like to keep your environment clean and organized - and if you're not squeamish - you'll want to explore this new healthcare option at SCC! This program shows you how to assist in the care of surgical patients by preparing the operating room and serving as a member of the surgical team. 

 

WHAT YOU STUDY

Students will apply theoretical knowledge to the care of patients undergoing surgery and develop skills necessary to prepare supplies, equipment, and instruments; maintain aseptic conditions; prepare patients for surgery; and assist surgeons during operations.

 

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Employment opportunities include labor/delivery/emergency departments, inpatient/outpatient surgery centers, dialysis units/facilities, physicians’ offices, and central supply processing units.
