Dental Assisting Program Mission Statement

The mission Southwestern Community College Dental Assisting Program is to prepare students with job entry skills and knowledge to participate in the delivery of dental healthcare to the public and obtain professional credentials per Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) standards.

Dental Assisting Program Goals

Patient Care

To prepare students through didactic, laboratory, and clinical experiences to provide dental assisting services in various dental settings while upholding professional standards.

Instruction

To provide foundational knowledge through a strong curriculum that prepares students to assume responsibility for ethical dental care and helps develop the skills necessary to adapt to a rapidly changing healthcare environment. 

Service

To advocate for commitment to the profession through Dental Assisting National Board certification, membership with professional affiliations, continuing education and community service.
