The event will be held from 6-7 p.m. in Rooms 102 A&B of the Burrell Building on Southwestern Community College’s Jackson Campus.

At least one parent or guardian will need to accompany each student at the event.

A cooperative effort between Jackson County Public Schools and Southwestern Community College, Jackson County Early College provides selected students an opportunity to gain up to two years of college credit completely free while working toward their high school diplomas.

“Many of our students are able to earn associate degrees by the time they graduate from high school,” said Melanie Jacobs, JCEC Principal. “By taking college classes on SCC’s campus, they’re also learning valuable life skills and building self-discipline that will serve them well in the years ahead. One added bonus is that our students are now allowed to participate in extracurricular activities such as sports and band through Smoky Mountain High School.”

Students who are interested in applying can do so at https://jcec.jcpsnc.org/.
