2022-10-03

Surgical Technician Students work in their lab

For the first time in three years, Southwestern Community College will hold a Health Fair from 9 a.m.-noon on Friday, Oct. 7, in the Don Tomas Health Sciences Center.

The event will feature more than 20 community healthcare vendors throughout the area. Walgreens will be offering free flu and COVID-19 vaccines, and the Red Cross will be holding a blood drive.

At the same time, all 16 of SCC Health Sciences programs will be offering displays and presentations to help visitors gain a better understanding of the fulfilling careers available throughout Western North Carolina.

Additionally, our Medical Laboratory Technology program is partnering with JCHD Laboratories to offer screenings for cholesterol and and glucose for $10.

Among the healthcare careers for which Southwestern offers training are Emergency Medical Sciences, Radiography, Opticianry, Medical Assisting, Nurse Aide and Physical Therapist Assistant. A full list is available at www.SouthwesternCC.edu/Health-Sciences.
