Anyone interested in providing or receiving healthcare services will have the perfect opportunity on the morning of Oct. 20 at Southwestern Community College’s Jackson Campus.
Following is the schedule for SCC’s Healthcare Expo:
- 8 a.m.-noon - SCC’s annual health fair with vaccines and exhibits by 14 area healthcare providers, in the Don Tomas Health Sciences Center.
- 9-10 a.m. - a healthcare panel discussion featuring second-year SCC Health Sciences students who are thriving (in the Burrell Center).
- 10-11 a.m. - Conversation with a panel of area healthcare employers in the Burrell Center.
“We’re excited to welcome the public to our state-of-the-art healthcare education facility,” said Melissa Hyatt, SCC’s Dean of Health Sciences. “It’s a great opportunity for our neighbors to see how we’re training the next generation of healthcare workers.”
At the health fair, visitors can choose to receive flu and/COVID vaccinations while learning about other health-centered services available in the community.
Representatives of all Southwestern’s 16 healthcare programs will be on hand at both the health and job fairs to answer questions about their respective career fields.
“We’re excited about all the students and employers who’ll appear in the panel discussions,” said Mike Despeaux, Director of Career Services at SCC. “They will provide job seekers and everyone interested in a healthcare career with a better understanding of what they can expect in this field.”
