Classes for the fall semester are set to start Aug. 19 at SCC’s Jackson and Macon Campuses, and a limited number of seats are available at each location.

“For anyone who has a heart to care for others, Nurse Aide is an ideal place to start for a number of reasons,” said Melissa Hyatt, Dean of Health Sciences at Southwestern. “It takes less than a year to get started, it can be a gateway into some of our other healthcare career fields, and right now there’s virtually no cost at all to get started.”

Through the 2024-2025 State Employees Credit Union Bridge to Career Program, NC residents can receive a $500 scholarship to pay their tuition and fees with enough left over to assist with class-related costs like textbooks, scrubs, testing and more.

The SECU Foundation Bridge to Career program supports NC community college students seeking to obtain state-regulated credentials through the Workforce Continuing Education Division that lead to sustainable wage careers in the local community.
