Fifteen graduates of Southwestern Community College’s Physical Therapist Assistant program were honored during a May 8 pinning ceremony at the Jackson Campus.

“It’s been a long journey, but these students are finally ready to take on their chosen career path. We feel confident that their training at SCC has prepared them well for this next step,” said Mitch Fischer, Dean of Health Sciences.
All graduates are eligible to take the licensure examination administered by the N.C. Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Upon completion of the licensure examination, graduates will then be certified Physical Therapist Assistants and will be eligible to work in specialty hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, schools, home health programs, and other places where people may need help restoring function by alleviation, or prevention of further physical impairments. However, some of the graduates plan to continue their education by attending a university in order to become licensed physical therapists.
