Q) What motivates you to continue and excel at SCC in spite of circumstances you may face?
A) My family, and my daughter motivates me. They have always been there for me and encouraged me not to lose hope, I am thankful for that. Learning motivates me, the more I learn the more excited I get and want to learn more, I am a 50 year old women who has not been in school for over 30 years and I have a full time job, five kids, and eight grandchildren. I don't get to spend anytime with my family and that is the hardest because that is all I have ever done. It takes everything I have and every minute of the day to study. But I keep telling myself that is all worth it in the end. I can be that role model for my grandchildren and anyone else out there that has these same struggles or any other. This makes me want to provide better for myself and my family.
Q) What advice would you give to future students who might face similar situations?
A) Work hard and don't give up, continue to look at what this education has to offer for you. The battle is hard for me, I am not a educated person but I give it my 100% to prove to myself that what I thought I could never do I am doing now.
