Q1) What motivates you to continue and excel at SCC in spite of circumstances you may face?
A1) The need to succeed. I have worked hard all my life at whatever job I could get to take care of my 3 kids. I always told them you can do anything you want as long as you work hard and give it your all. My kids are grown so now it is my time. I want a career and more out of life so I'm gonna get it. Life has thrown me some pretty tough obstacles lately but you know what they just make me more determined because my kids will see me succeed. I raised a Baylor graduate who's going on to med school and if she can do it so can I.
Q2) What advice would you give to future students who might face similar situations?
A2) The first thing I tell myself is God never gives me more than I can handle. Anything worth having is gonna be hard work. When things get tough you smile, think about that light at the end of the tunnel and all the rewards you will have when you graduate and make a better life for yourself. The hard times and hard work will make it that much more satisfying. If you have kids think of the example you are setting for them.
