Three graduation ceremonies set for May 20

2023-05-09

Logan Walker, StudentMany started their educational journeys in the midst of a global pandemic.

They persevered through unprecedented restrictions, innovative online learning formats and other educational challenges that previous generations could never have imagined.

On Saturday, May 20, Southwestern Community College will mark the culmination of these students’ journeys with a series of three commencement ceremonies in Myers Auditorium on SCC’s Jackson Campus.

The first, at 10 a.m., will celebrate graduates of the Health Sciences division. Ceremonies for Arts & Sciences/Early College (12:30 p.m.) and Career Technologies (3 p.m.) divisions will follow.

“Earning a college degree is never easy, but most things that are worthwhile aren't,” said Dr. Don Tomas, SCC President. “It takes sacrifice, commitment and support from family, friends and instructors. This group of graduates had to rise above additional challenges, and we could not be more proud of their accomplishments.”

For family and friends who can’t attend the ceremonies in person, here are livestream links:

10 a.m. - Health Sciences

12:30 p.m. - Arts & Sciences/Early College

3 p.m. - Career Technologies
